Gonzaga Bulldogs head coach Mark Few will not be calling the shots from the sidelines for his team's 2021-22 season opener against the
Dixie State Trailblazers on Nov. 9., This after Gonzaga decided to teach Few a lesson for his September DUI arrest in Idaho by suspending him for the team's first game of the upcoming season, according to Dana O'Neil of The Athletic.

Gonzaga suspended Mark Few for its season opener after the head coach’s September arrest for DUI in Idaho, it announced on Saturday.

Few will miss the Bulldogs’ Kraziness in the Kennel on Saturday, two exhibition games and the season opener against Dixie State. He will return to the sideline on Nov. 13 for their home date with Texas.

Few's absence for the Dixie State game shouldn't have a significant impact on Gonzaga's status as the overwhelming favorite to win that contest. The Bulldogs are among the few mid-major programs that can seriously challenge for a national title under Few, while Dixie State is a basketball minnow Gonzaga should dominate from start to end.

Gonzaga is also just coming off a national championship game appearance last season but came up short against the Baylor Bears, and while the Bulldogs have lost the likes of Joel Ayayi, Corey Kispert, and Jalen Suggs, they still have Andrew Nembhard, Drew Timme as key holdovers and major addition in super freshman Chet Holmgren.
