NBA All-Star and Duke University alum Grant Hill surprised 1700 freshmen Blue Devils at a local Target store in Durham.
As Duke University tradition has it, the school gives incoming freshmen the opportunity to shop at Target after hours to grab their necessary supplies for the school year.
Pens, flash cards and wide-ruled paper are some of the things these students hoped to find after being bused there to do their school shopping.
One of the things they didn't expect was to see Grant Hill waiting for them inside the store. According to Duke's press release:
“He posed for pics, helped shop for planners and groceries and shot a few hoops in the sporting goods aisle.
Of course, there was a little reminiscing about his alma mater—and he even gave a few tips to help students get to the top of their new-to-campus game: manage your time wisely and find the library!”
The store also provided a DJ, various snacks and some coupons to start their college career with a bang.
The four-year Duke standout has been known to give back to his alma mater and surely this was an experience these students will never forget.
