During free agency, teams are the ones reaching out to players who they plan on adding to their lineup. Sometimes, players reach out to teams and let them know they'd like to play for them. The latter is the case when it comes to guard Greivis Vasquez, who recently made it known which team he wants to play for.

After being waived by the Brooklyn Nets last November following an ankle injury he suffered, the 30-year-old point guard explained on the latest episode of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore's Ed Norris and Rob Long that he would like to resurrect his career with the Washington Wizards. He also discussed the current state of his health and where he is in the recovery process.

“That's the plan. Hopefully they're interested, obviously they want to see me healthy.”

“I'm still in the process of rehabbing. But that would be a great thing for my career, just play the next three or four years in D.C. and help that team, because I know I can help any team, but D.C. is a special city for me.”

Despite being born in Venezuela, Vasquez has lived in Maryland since 2004 and has considered it his hometown, and growing up rooting for the Wizards. He attended high school in Rockville and also chose to play for the Maryland Terrapins back in college.

His potential addition to the Wizards could give them depth at the point guard position and he can play behind John Wall. With Brandon Jennings slated to become a free agent, the team may not be able to extend an offer to him as big as what other teams can. Should that happen, they can move on from him and look at Vasquez as a possible replacement, and also sign him on a lower price. He is a seven-year veteran with a lot of experience, and would make an excellent backup guard running the team behind Wall.
