Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant may think someone else is more deserving of the Most Improved Player of the Year award, but he remains thankful that he won the honor.

On Twitter, Morant showed his appreciation for those who voted for him and shared how the acknowledgement is a testament to the work he puts in night in and night out.

“I believe in everyday life you want to be better at your profession & as a person all the time. It becomes a constant grind, so to receive this award is a true testament for the work I put into my craft on a daily basis and for that I’m truly grateful,” Morant wrote.

Ja Morant beat out the other finalists in Dejounte Murray and Darius Garland for the recognition. The Grizzlies star received 221 points with 38 first place votes, while Murray came close at second with 183 points behind 20 first place votes.

For what it's worth, Morant previously said that he believes his Grizzlies teammate Desmond Bane should have been on the list instead of him. After all, Bane had a higher increase in points and assists per game than Morant, though he finished fifth in the overall voting.

Despite his questions about the voting, Morant certainly feels good to add another accolade to his trophy case. After winning Rookie of the Year in 2019, he now has the MIP to add to it. Maybe the MVP is next?
