The Memphis Grizzlies and the New Orleans Pelicans faced off on Monday in a highly anticipated match-up between the two top rookies in the league today in Ja Morant and Zion Williamson.

Following the Pelicans' 109-99 victory over the Grizzlies, Morant and Williamson shared a moment on the court, exchanging pleasantries and hugging it out after the final buzzer.

Morant then tweeted out a message addressed to Williamson, expressing how he hopes that their respective careers serve as inspirations for their supporters.

The two have somewhat been pitted against each other by the media, so it was nice to see them share an endearing moment after a hard-fought battle. Right now, Morant is the heavy favorite to bag the Rookie of the Year award for his consistent play for the Grizzlies throughout the season, but there are some who believe that Zion might just be able to have a say in the voting despite the fact that he didn't make his debut until January.

On Sunday, it was Zion Williamson who came out on top in the individual battle between these two budding superstars. Williamson finished with 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists in just 25 minutes of action. On the other hand, JA Morant had a poor shooting night, going for 5-of-21 from the floor (1-of-10 from deep) for 11 markers, five boards and eight dimes.

The win was a big one for New Orleans as they try to keep their playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile, it was a huge blow to the Grizzlies who have now lost three straight seeding games.
