When the Atlanta Hawks paid their only visit to Tennessee this season to play the Memphis Grizzlies, Vince Carter did not forget to show some love to the city he called home for three seasons.

While Grizzlies center Jonas Valanciunas was having his post-game interview, Carter chimed in and gave an impromptu thank you to the Grizzlies fans:

The 42-year old is in the last couple of months of his farewell tour. Carter is obviously sending his final well wishes to each city he visits from this point on.

Carter played a total of 199 games with Memphis, spanning three seasons from 2014-15 to 2016-17. In his three years with the Grizzlies, Carter averaged just 6.9 points while playing 19 minutes a night.

Before the start of the 2019-20 season, Carter announced that this season — his record setting 22nd NBA season — would be his last. It has been one hell of a ride for Vinsanity.

Most would remember the 8-time All-Star for his stints with the Toronto Raptors and the New Jersey Nets. Mostly known for his highflying antics and death-defying dunks in his early days, Carter eventually became a well-rounded offensive player in his prime.

However, over the latter half of his career, the former no. 5 overall pick has been a journeyman playing with six different franchises. And over these last couple of years, Carter has embraced the veteran role for young teams such as the Grizzlies, the Sacramento Kings, and now the Atlanta Hawks.

With his longevity and professionalism, Carter is undoubtedly one of the most highly-respected players in the history of the game and should eventually find himself in the basketball Hall of Fame.
