Unloading Chandler Parsons along with his onerous contract is seemingly so high on the Memphis Grizzlies’ list of priorities this offseason that they are willing to give up their No.4 pick along with the forward in a trade. It’s also reported by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony that the Grizzlies are in talks with seven other NBA teams as they try to land a deal that would allow them to get rid of Parsons.

Givony also noted in his report that sources have told him that ideally for Memphis, the team will still get a lottery pick in return for their Parsons-plus-pick package with the Grizzlies eyeing Wendell Carter Jr. as a possible selection in this Thursday’s NBA Draft. Wendell Carter Jr. is a 6-foot-10 decent post operator, who also boasts of a 7-foot-3 wingspan.

Memphis might be able to trade back to No. 6 (owned by Orlando) or No. 7 (owned by Chicago) on draft night. Duke big man Wendell Carter Jr. is a favorite of the Memphis front office and especially the coaching staff, according to sources. He is currently projected to be selected within the top seven picks in the latest ESPN mock draft.

Carter was a little bit overshadowed by his more popular frontcourt partner in Duke in Marvin Bagley III, but he does have the numbers and the potential to earn the attention of NBA scouts. Carter played for just one season in Durham and averaged 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game.
