The Memphis Grizzlies have been actively wheeling and dealing this offseason, and it doesn't look like they are stopping any time soon. However, their next move might not please Ja Morant or the rest of the fan base.
According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the Grizzlies are looking to shed some of their 18 guaranteed contracts to go down the league maximum. With that said, they are reportedly making both Dillon Brooks and Kyle Anderson available in trade talks.
Keep an eye on Detroit and Memphis. Both teams have too many guaranteed contracts. They need to fix that. Sources say Grizzlies small forwards Dillon Brooks and Kyle Anderson are available for the right price.
Dillon Brooks is the Grizzlies' second-leading scorer behind Ja Morant, averaging 17.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals during the 2020-21 season. The 255-year-old also has a great relationship and partnership with Morant, with the two showing nothing but love and respect for one another during their pressers.
On the other hand, Kyle Anderson is also one of the team's best players. A consistent starter like Brooks, the 27-year-old stuffed the stat sheet in the past campaign and did a little bit of everything. He put up 12.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals in 69 games for Memphis.
Both are key players for the Grizzlies, which is why they could command a lot if the team trades them. However, it might be difficult for Memphis to replace them given the chemistry they have already established. Plus, they have been playoffs-tested already and look primed for a better showing in the upcoming season.
Whatever the Grizzlies do, though, it sure looks like they are determined to field the best roster possible.
