It wasn't long ago that Deyonta Davis roamed the court for the Michigan State Spartans and appeared as if he could be a lottery pick in the NBA Draft. Davis spent just one season under the tutelage of head coach Tom Izzo before declaring for the 2016 NBA Draft, where he was taken in the second round. Now, he has just signed a second 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks, per Michael Scotto of The Athletic, attempting to keep his NBA dreams alive.

Davis was drafted by the Boston Celtics, but he was quickly flipped to the Memphis Grizzlies in one of what has been many transactions in his brief NBA stint. The Grizzlies handed him a three-year guaranteed deal despite his status as a second-round pick.

After playing 36 games as a rookie (all off the bench) and 62 (six starts) in 2017-18 with Memphis — along with multiple shuttles between the main roster and the G League — Davis was flipped to the Sacramento Kings, who waived him before the start of the 2018-19 year. He has since roamed the G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors, starting all 43 games he has appeared in. While shooting 59.2 percent from the field overall, he averaged 9.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per contest. That effort got him his first 10-day contract with the Hawks.
