The Atlanta Hawks failed to reach the 30-win mark for the second consecutive season, but team owner Tony Ressler believes that his team will be a perennial playoff team soon.

Ressler believes that the Hawks will be able to attract marquee free agents in the near future.

According to Hawks beat writer Kevin Chouinard, Ressler confidently said that the Hawks will soon become an “extraordinary” destination for free agents despite missing the playoffs in the last two seasons.

“Players want to live in Atlanta, ex-players live in Atlanta, probably more than any city in America,” Ressler said. “Please understand that there is no doubt in our mind Atlanta will be a free agent destination.”

It is worth noting that the Hawks improved by five wins last season. They finished with a 29-53 record, better than their 24-58 card during the 2017-18 NBA season. Atlanta also showed a lot of promise, particularly rookie guard Trae Young, who turned heads late in the regular season.

Young had a slow start last season, and fans started blasting the Hawks for trading Luka Doncic for the former Oklahoma guard.

However, the 20-year-old proved his doubters wrong, as he averaged 24.7 points on top of 9.2 assists and 4.7 rebounds after the All-Star break.
