Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young joined ESPN for a scheduled interview on Monday afternoon. During the discussion, the crafty youngster noted that he is excited to work with his newly drafted teammates:

“Right away, I called them and texted them, told them how excited I am to get to work with them,” Young told ESPN, referring to his new teammates. “We're gonna start building this thing.”

“I see a bright future,” Young added. “I see a lot of guys who love to work hard and get better. We wanna bring a championship to Atlanta.”

After working out a trade with the Pelicans, Atlanta was left with the fourth and 10th picks in the first round. By most accounts, the team hit on every one.

With the fourth overall pick, the Hawks selected De'Andre Hunter, a talented forward who won an NCAA championship with Virginia in his sophomore season. According to most analysts, Hunter was one of the best defensive options in this year's draft. His sheer size (7-2 wingspan) allows him to play several positions, but he also averaged 15.2 points per game in his final season with the Cavaliers.

At No. 10 overall, Atlanta picked Cam Reddish. Though he was the third option behind Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett at Duke, Reddish was still viewed as one of the best shooters in his class. The Pennsylvania native appeared in 36 total games for Duke, averaging 13.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 33 percent from beyond the arc.

Though he'll likely need a bit of time to adjust to the NBA, Reddish says he is excited to work with Young:

“I think (Trae) is a great leader, (he has) a tremendous work ethic,” Reddish said via NBA.com. “I think he can do it all on the court. Obviously, he's a tremendous passer. He'll be able to find me throughout the entire game. I'm looking forward to learning from him, being around him, soaking it all in.”

The Hawks finished the 2018-19 season with a 29-53 overall record, which left the team well out of playoff contention. However, with their recent additions, they could be back in the hunt next season.
