Atlanta Hawks rookie point guard Trae Young heard all the noise about how he was going to be a bust in the NBA and that Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic is the only player who has superstar potential from the 2019 Draft class.

Young, though, was never fazed by the hate and criticism which was directed towards him. He just kept his head down and did the only thing he's done since he started playing basketball: go to the gym every day and work on his game.

All the hard work is paying off for Trae Young in a big way, as he just completed a historic five-game stretch in which he averaged 34.8 points and 10.4 assists while shooting 47.0 percent from the field and 48.9 percent from beyond the arc.

This is what the NBA is all about. Young is using the brightest stage in basketball to show all the pundits he's going to be a multiple time All-Star in this league. Doncic has been playing great basketball for the Mavs, but the 2019 Rookie of the Year race is a lot closer than many think.

Young is averaging 18.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game on the season. He leads all rookies in assists and has 21 double-doubles on the season. The Hawks have their franchise point guard.
