NBA veteran Vince Carter has his sights set on the upcoming season. This will be the 42-year-old's 22nd and final year in the league, and at this point, the Atlanta Hawks swingman already appears to have a good idea of what to expect in the upcoming campaign:

“For me, I’m going to enjoy it,” Carter said, via Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I’m going to have fun. I know it’s going to be a lot going on, a circus.”

After an illustrious career, Carter definitely deserves a swan song. Nevertheless, the 6-foot-6 swingman admitted that he is not exactly too hyped about all the drama that will surround his final playing year:

“I’m not really looking forward to that, to be honest, just because I try to go into it as it’s still my job and I get the importance of it all but it’s just that I still want it to be all about basketball and the year,” Carter added. “I still want to have a good year.”

This is simply the unwavering competitiveness of Carter talking here, as he obviously does not want to take a step back in his final outing. Instead, the eight-time All-Star described what he thinks would define a successful season for himself:

“Just do what I’ve been doing,” he said. “Stay healthy, for one, and just be the vet that I can be. Knock down shots and make plays when I’m called upon.”

Carter averaged 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 17.5 minutes last season with Atlanta, while also knocking down 1.6 3-pointers per game on a 38.9 percent clip. He also played 76 games last year, so a similar campaign this term would probably be a good way to end things for the great Vince Carter.
