Atlanta Hawks veteran Vince Carter admits he would get “chills” if Toronto Raptors fans break out a “We want Vince” chant when the Hawks play up in Toronto.

Carter is playing in his final season in the NBA in 2019-20. The former All-Star began his career with the Raptors, where he made a name and established himself as one of the greatest dunkers in NBA history.

“I don’t know. It is what it is. Some things you can’t control. It’s just great to be wanted and appreciated at this age after playing so many years,” Carter told Sarah K. Spencer of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “That’s where it all started for me. A lot of great things happened. That’s where my name was made. To hear a chant like that, obviously it’s refreshing and it brings chills to you. But I play for the Hawks.”

Vince Carter played 403 games with the Raptors. He averaged 23.4 points per game with Toronto and won the 1999 Rookie of the Year Award.

Carter has career averages of 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 1,481 games with the Raptors, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Hawks. Everyone will always remember his epic dunk contest back in 2000, when he won with relative ease by performing dunks that captivated the entire world.

It would be a great moment for Carter if the Raptors fans gave him one final sendoff when the Hawks come to town. Hopefully, it happens.
