Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade could make NBA history on Monday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Wade needs one block to tie Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan for most blocked shots in a career by a guard. Wade enters Monday with 1,050 blocks in his career, counting the regular season and playoffs. Jordan finished with 1,051 blocks during his legendary career.

If Wade blocks two shots on Monday, he will surpass Jordan as the greatest shot blocker in NBA history from the guard position.

“It all counts,” Dwyane Wade said with a grin when asked whether the record that included playoff blocks counted for him, via Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “Obviously, I want the regular-season [record]. I want both. I want it all. So, it’s tough. Some games, I got two blocks in two games in a row. Then the last two games, I got nothing. So we’ll see. If I start getting in foul trouble, you’ll know what it is.”

Wade is one block from tying Jordan in career blocks (including the regular season and playoffs). Wade has totaled 1,050 blocks (875 in the regular season and 175 in the postseason) in his career, and Jordan finished with 1,051 blocks (893 in the regular season and 158 in the postseason).

Dwyane Wade is having a fantastic farewell tour this season with the Heat. He’s getting standing ovations in every road arena he plays in and is on the verge of passing his idol, Michael Jordan, for the most blocks by a guard in NBA history.

Not a bad way for the future Hall of Famer to end his NBA career.
