Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler and rookie Tyler Herro have been getting along pretty well as teammates. In a recent Instagram post, Butler alluded to “Karate Kid” to describe his mentor-mentee relationship with Herro.

Butler posted a photo of him and Herro in one of the practices in the Orlando bubble. He captioned it with a quote from the martial arts film classic, “The Karate Kid.” Butler seems to imply that he's playing the role of Mr. Miyagi while Herro is Daniel LaRusso.

either you karate do “yes” or karate do “no.” you karate do “guess so,” (get squished) just like grape. – mr. miyagi

Heat fans are pretty much aware of how close Jimmy Butler and Herro are. Butler has mentioned in several interviews how he admires the young gun for his competitive fire. It also helps that they get along well off the court.

This great bond between Herro and Butler maybe one of the key reasons why the Heat has been successful all season. They will enter the 2019-20 season restart with a 41-24 record for fourth place in the East.

Butler, the team's best player, is averaging 20.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. Herro, meanwhile, is putting up 12.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. These are pretty great numbers for a first-year player. What's more impressive is that he seems to have quickly earned the trust of head coach Erik Spoelstra. And from the looks of it, Herro will continue to get better with Butler as his mentor.
