The Miami Heat have parted ways Jeffrey R. David, according to Ira Winderman of the Miami Sun-Sentinal. David is currently under FBI investigation into possible criminal money-laundering while he worked for the Sacramento Kings. David was hired as the chief revenue officer by the Heat.

The Heat put him on leave when the news broke, but now it appears they were not waiting around any longer. They are looking to put this storyline behind them before the start of the season.

David was a heavy hitter in the NBA. He was appointed as chief revenue officer of the Sacramento Kings by David Stern in 2012. He's accused of funneling money to purchase California real estate. The investigation is ongoing, but the dismissal from the Heat doesn't look good for David.

It's unclear when the Heat will re-fill the position, but there's no doubt they are ready for this headache to put this situation in the rearview mirror.

The Heat are focused on building off of last season's success. The Heat fell short in the playoffs, but the dynamic of the Eastern Conference completely changes without LeBron James looming. The conference is still wide open and perhaps the Heat can make a surprising playoff run.

Whatever happens, the Heat are looking forward to forgetting about Jeffrey R. David. Hiring someone with such a questionable background is not a good look for the organization. Of course, the FBI investigation was not going on at the time of the hiring, but it is still tough to have to part ways with a new hire after a few months.
