Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker has been involved in a lot of trade rumors lately. In a recent interview with the Charlotte Observer, Walker was asked if it would be harder for him to function until the Feb. 8 trade deadline.

“No. No, I'm a pro, man. This is what I do, you know. I play basketball and I go hard each and every day, regardless of what's going on and in my life, you know. I never bring it to the basketball court. If anything, I'd rather be playing than just sitting around. Basketball is what helps me cope with anything, so no, it won't be a problem at all.”

Walker has been consistently in trade rumors because of the poor play from the Hornets. The team is currently 18-25 on the season and sitting in the 11th seed in the East.

The former No. 9 overall pick is in contract until the 2018-19 season with a salary of $12 million a year. It is a bargain for a productive player like Walker, who is averaging 21.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists. So, if the Hornets want to get something out of Walker's value, they may want to trade the All-Star guard now before the ship completely sinks.

One also has to think about the expensive contracts of Nicolas Batum, Marvin Williams, Cody Zeller and Dwight Howard. Considering that the Hornets are not in the spotlight because of their poor play, it would be wise to offload some salaries, and Walker's seem to have the salary that has the most potential when moved.
