Charlotte Hornets team owner Michael Jordan is one of the latest celebrities to extend his thoughts and prayers to all those who were affected by the hurricane that recently hit the Bahamas.

According to Jordan's manager and spokeswoman, Estee Portnoy, the six-time NBA champion has pledged to donate $1 million in the relief efforts for the disaster. Jordan's official statement reads below.

“I am devastated to see the destruction that Hurricane Dorian has brought to the Bahamas, where I own property and visit frequently. My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and to those who have lost loved ones. As the recovery and relief efforts continue, I will be tracking the situation closely and working to identify non-profit agencies where the funds will have the most impact. The Bahamian people are strong and resilient and I hope that my donation will be of help as they work to recover from this catastrophic storm.”

The damage caused by the hurricane is unfathomable, and it's great that people like Jordan are extending a helping hand. For his part, the Bahamas obviously has a special place in Jordan's heart.

MJ and his Hornets are expected to face a pretty troublesome season ahead this coming campaign, following the summer departure of their former superstar Kemba Walker. Charlotte are now left without a bona fide superstar, and all signs are pointing to a high lottery pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
