Thanks to a last-second field goal attempt that made its way through the uprights, the Indianapolis Colts were able to come away with a win over the lowly Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium. Although the Colts definitely didn't play the team's best all-around game of the season, Indianapolis still found a way to get it done against the Broncos, a victory that came by the narrow score of 15-13.

Despite trailing 13-12 in the final minutes of the game, the Colts not only found a way to win, but helped themselves remain atop the AFC South standings by improving to an impressive 5-2 on the season. However, there is more work to be done for the surging Colts as the AFC South has become one of the more competitive divisions in the entire league.

Because the 5-3 Houston Texans, 4-4 Jacksonville Jaguars and 4-4 Tennessee Titans all still in the mix, the Colts must stay on their toes as Week 9 approaches. Nonetheless, the team's latest win over the Broncos showed that Indianapolis is a serious contender in the AFC.

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett is the real deal.

Without the services of former backup and current starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett, the Indianapolis Colts would not be 5-2 right now. Brissett was especially impressive down the stretch against the Denver Broncos as Andrew Luck's former backup led his team right down the field and into field goal territory, which ultimately won the Colts the game in Week 8.

The highlight of the game for both the Colts and Brissett was when the Indianapolis signal caller avoided would-be Broncos tacklers in his own end zone en route to throwing a bullet down field to wide receiver T.Y. Hilton. Not only did this play keep the drive alive, but it kept the Colts' chances at a win alive as well.

Head coach Frank Reich is the right man for the job after all.

The Indianapolis Colts initially attempted to hire New England Patriots offensive coordinator and assistant coach Josh McDaniels as the team's new head coach after Chuck Pagano. However, McDaniels bailed on the Colts at the last minute, which led Indianapolis to hire current head coach Frank Reich — a move that could go down in history as one of the greatest in history.

After leading the Colts to the postseason — unexpectedly — in his first go-round at the helm in Indianapolis, it is quite evident that Reich has the respect of his players with the AFC South franchise remaining confident, composed and poised week in and week out these days. If not for Reich's leadership along the sideline and inside the locker room, the Colts don't win this past Sunday — period!

Is veteran place kicker Adam Vinatieri going to last through the season?

Despite the fact that veteran place kicker Adam Vinatieri hit the game-winning field goal against the Denver Broncos, the former New England Patriots special teamer has struggled all season long. While Vinatieri has already stated that he won't be hanging it up just yet, it remains to be seen as to whether or not he can even make it through the rest of the year with the Indianapolis Colts as the AFC South franchise continues to push toward the postseason.

On Sunday, Vinatieri missed both a field goal and extra point, which almost cost his team yet another game.
