The Boston Celtics‘ first round draft pick Terry Rozier was a surprise selection at #16 in the 2015 NBA Draft. The pick was much earlier than expected to a team that already had a staple of guards on the roster.

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge liked what he saw in Rozier, and he wasn't wrong with Rozier improving his all around game last season.

Isaiah Thomas on Terry Rozier

Bleacher Report's Dan Favale asked Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas who would be the guy to step in Evan Turner‘s place, but Thomas believes they already have the upgrade. He responded to the question with:

“Another guy, my guy, Terry Rozier, is going to surprise people. I think he’s ready to make an impact.”

Rozier had a solid series against the Atlanta Hawks in the 2016 playoffs and encored his performance in the 2016 Summer League.

Danny Ainge on Terry Rozier

His play impressed Ainge so much that Ainge raved about him during the games and expects big things from him in the future.

“I think that Terry Rozier has made a great case for himself for next year. He’s been our best player from the first day of training camp this summer. He’s been terrific for us. He was a good player last year in training camp, just didn’t get a lot of opportunities because of our depth at guard. I think he’s winning a spot.”

If both Ainge and Thomas are right, expect to hear Rozier's name come up much more when referencing the Celtics next season.
