Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas prides himself on being able to excel at the highest level of his sport, much like a certain masked wrestling legend.

When speaking to Andy Gray of SI.com recently, Thomas discussed his love for the WWE and how it was a dream come true to watch an event live.

“Oh sure. I’ve been to one wrestling event in Sacramento. It was WWE and The Rock came out. It was something I always wanted to go to as a kid. I don't follow as much anymore but I used to love it when I was younger.”

Thomas also revealed how he would emulate fellow undersized athlete, Rey Mysterio Jr., if he was given the chance to be in the WWE.

“I’d be like Rey Mysterio Jr., if you remember him. He was the smallest guy out there. That's who I'd be.”

During his spell in the WWE, Mysterio defied odds by getting his hands on the WWE Championship despite his lack of size. Thomas has continued to prove himself as an elite scorer for the Celtics and will hope that he too is eventually crowned a champion.

His team have enjoyed an extremely productive summer, picking up Al Horford in free agency and drafting a wealth of young talent. Thomas knows it will be tough to take his team to the next level, but much like Mysterio, he always seems ready for a battle.
