After narrowly missing the nod for Eastern Conference Player of the Week to Washington Wizards point guard John Wall, a very confident Isaiah Thomas believes he should be the Player of the Month.

“Hell yeah,” Thomas said, according to ESPN's Chris Forsberg. “I should definitely get that award.”

And he has plenty of reasons to think so. In the month of December, Thomas led the East and was second in the NBA in scoring with a 30.3-point clip over 12 games. On December 30, he poured in a career-high 52 against the Miami Heat — 10 days after setting his previous career-best with 44 against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The only players to have scored more points in a single game in franchise history are legends Larry Bird and Kevin McHale.

The Washington product also shot free-throws with mind-blowing efficiency, connecting on 92.9 percent of his attempts, while going to the line 9.4 times per game.

At 5-foot-9, Thomas has taken the hearts of Boston fans, symbolizing the blue collar work ethic of an underdog.

He took the Eastern Conference Player of the Week honor for December 19-25. The monthly awards are due this week.
