The Jacksonville Jaguars are clearly rebuilding their roster, but the franchise has brought in some exciting pieces. Head coach Urban Meyer has a fantastic track record in the NCAA and looks to bring his tenacity to the professional level. The Jaguars were able to draft Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft, which gives Jacksonville a centerpiece for their rebuild.

This team has some solid talent, especially on the offensive end. We should see guys like Travis Etienne and Laviska Shenault provide some big plays, while Marvin Jones Jr. and DJ Chark offer some consistency in the passing game. The defense is a bit lacking though and is likely the downfall of the Jaguars' success this season. Even so, Jacksonville should be a much better team than last year.

The coaching staff will want to maintain the best possible roster. This team has plenty of young talent which means they'll likely prioritize younger guys with potential over veterans. There will be plenty of position battles in Jacksonville, but only the best will remain on the team. With that said, here are three cut candidates on the Jaguars roster bubble entering training camp.

Nathan Cottrell

Nathan Cottrell finds himself near the bottom of the depth chart as the Jaguars running back room is stacked. The group is led by James Robinson and rookie phenom Travis Etienne who look to give the Jaguars a solid one-two punch out of the backfield. Furthermore, Carlos Hyde is bound to carve out a role while Dare Ogunbowale and Devin Ozigbo are on the roster as well.

The Jaguars don't need six running backs on the roster, so two of these guys may get cut from the team. However, Cottrell could be an early-cut candidate as the running back position is nearly a lock for the Jaguars. Look for Cottrell to potentially compete with Ogunbowale and Ozigbo for the fourth running back spot on the roster.

Tim Tebow

Signing Tim Tebow made some headlines but the odds are against him. Tight end is the position many wanted him to convert to in the NFL and had he done so sooner, he may have had a career in the league. Instead, Tebow refused to switch positions and found himself out of the league. He comes back to Jacksonville trying out as a tight end, but due to his lack of experience in the position, it's hard to believe he makes the final roster.

Laquon Treadwell

The former first-round selection signed with the Jaguars this offseason but is near the bottom of the pecking order in the wide receiver room. Treadwell has been less than impressive throughout his career and the Jaguars have a strong receiver group as it is. He'll have to impress the coaching staff and show a ton of improvements if he hopes to remain on the roster this year.

It's more likely the Jaguars run with a receiver group consisting of Chark, Shenault, Jones Jr., Collin Johnson as their main four wideouts. Phillip Dorsett has a great chance of making the team as well, giving the Jaguars a decent group of five pass targets for Trevor Lawrence.
