The Jacksonville Jaguars are confident in Gardner Minshew as their starting quarterback and their roster moves on Saturday reflect that. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Jacksonville released both Mike Glennon and Josh Dobbs as part of their roster cuts.

The move to release Dobbs and Glennon could be viewed as a surprise due to a couple of reasons. First and foremost, the Jaguars acquired Dobbs via trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers early in the 2019 season in exchange for a fifth-round pick.

Dobbs, a former fourth-round pick of the Steelers, never suited up in a single game with Jacksonville. Now, less than a year after the Jaguars traded for him, Dobbs is being released by the team.

Besides Dobbs, Jacksonville informed Glennon that they'd be parting ways with him on Saturday. Back in May, after searching for a veteran to serve as the backup to Minshew, the Jaguars inked Glennon to a deal. Just four months later, he is no longer going to be on the roster.

Following the decisions to release Dobbs and Glennon, Jacksonville is now left with just two quarterbacks on the roster. Besides Minshew, rookie sixth-round pick Jake Luton is the only other quarterback on the roster. As Rapoport suggests though, either Dobbs or Glennon could be back with the team once they view all of their options at the position.

There's no doubt that the Jaguars will likely be scouring the market for a quarterback during NFL cut day. With that being said, both Dobbs and Glennon are amid the roster cuts that Jacksonville has made thus far.
