The Jacksonville Jaguars could be making changes soon. According to Dianna Russini of ESPN, the Jags have informed head coach Doug Marrone that he will be dismissed following the season finale against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

However, that may not be quite the case. Jim Woodcock, Jaguars owner Shad Khan's spokesman, announced that Jacksonville had not relieved Marrone of his coaching duties. Via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:

“Reports that Doug Marrone will be dismissed after Sunday’s game are 100 percent incorrect. Owner Shad Khan will meet with his football staff, which includes coaching and personnel, midweek next week.”

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk backed up the statement, saying, per his sources, the Jaguars have not fired Marrone. As it stands, he could be fired after Sunday, but it has not happened on Saturday.

The Jaguars are 5-10 on the year. Under Marrone, they are 21-28 since 2016. He filled in as interim head coach in 2016 after the firing of Gus Bradley, then earned the full-time gig. In his first year as head coach, Jacksonville went to the AFC Championship but lost. They have not been to the playoffs since.

On Tuesday, Marrone publicly apologized for his team's shortcomings.

I’m truly sorry I let so many down, that I couldn’t have done a better job,″ said Marrone, via John Reid of Jacksonville.com. “For our fans who are so disappointed and our sponsors, I truly take responsibility and apologize. It’s the holiday time, and you want your team to be doing well, so people can have some pride or joy. And that’s my job, and I haven’t done that.″

As of now, Marrone has his job with the Jaguars. Whether or not it stays that way should be found out after Sunday's AFC South tilt.
