The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed wide receiver Marqise Lee on the injured reserve list due to a shoulder injury, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Lee barely made an impact in the six games he played this season, logging three catches for 18 yards.

Injuries have unfortunately defined Lee's career thus far.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Southern California, was originally selected by the Jaguars in the second round (39th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He played in 13 games during his rookie campaign, catching 37 passes for 422 yards and a touchdown. The following season, injuries limited Lee to 10 contests, and his production was scarce, as he finished with 15 catches for 191 yards and a score.

Lee then had a breakout year of sorts in 2016, hauling in 63 receptions for 851 yards while reaching the end zone three times in a season which also happened to be the only full 16-game campaign he has played to date.

The Inglewood, Ca. native avoided injury issues for the most part in 2017, participating in 14 games and snaring 56 balls for 703 yards and three touchdowns.

However, that ensuing offseason, Lee suffered a torn ACL and proceeded to miss the entire 2018 campaign.

Lee is under contract through 2021. Unless the Jaguars dump him, he will have more opportunities to prove himself, but his career is becoming more and more marred by injuries.

Plus, with Jacksonville having an impressive young group of receivers that includes DJ Chark, Dede Westbrook and Chris Conley, Lee could ultimately be phased out.
