Not long after deciding his future, at least for the next year, Chris Paul decided to end the relationship and informed the Los Angeles Clippers that he'd prefer to play for the Houston Rockets.

Paul, now a part of a lethal backcourt with teammate and MVP candidate James Harden, has been planning the move, and the recruiting process had been ongoing for a period of time.

Broderick Turner of the LA Times reports that Harden has been in contact with Paul throughout the season about playing together in Houston.

According to one NBA executive, James Harden, the Rockets’ all-star guard, had been recruiting Paul throughout the season. An executive from another team said Harden had already told a fellow NBA player that Paul’s going to Houston was a done deal.

Having both players together doesn't necessarily create an instant “superteam” but it's a start that apparently both players wanted to make happen.

This all seems to confirm what coach Doc Rivers also says was an intentional connection. Despite the rumors of a rift between the two and other players on the team, Rivers believes Paul left due to a better chance of winning with his old Team USA squadmate.
