NBA free agency opened up Thursday evening, with teams and players signing deals across the league. The Washington Wizards and Bradley Beal made one of the biggest splashes of the day. Beal signed a five-year, $251 million super max contract extension with the Wizards. That is reportedly the largest contract in the history of the NBA.

After news surfaced of the contract extension from the Wizards, Boston Celtics superstar took to Twitter to share his thoughts.

“DAAAAAMMNNNNN! So happy for my big brotha. You deserve it champ…. LET ME HOLD A DOLLA,” Tatum tweeted. Tatum and Beal go back a long way, having known each other as kids in Missouri. Beal was actually Tatum's babysitter at one point.

Tatum ended his message asking for a dollar, but he doesn't have to worry. He is going to be getting paid max money soon enough after landing First-Team All-NBA honors and taking the Celtics to the NBA Finals at 24 years old.

Beal, on the other hand, has had a lot less to work with in Washington. The Wizards have at least attempted to improve. They traded away Spencer Dinwiddie and a couple role players for Kristaps Porzingis. The hope from the Wizards was that Porzingis can regain his form everyone saw early in his career in New York. Early returns on that trade though have not looked great.

Washington did not really have much of an option with Beal though. He has proven to be one of the best scorers in the NBA. Prior to last season, the Wizards star averaged over 30 points per game in back-to-back seasons. Last season, his numbers dipped but it's likely part of that was due to the wrist injury he was dealing with. He opted for season-ending surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
