Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell is one of many NBA personalities to share his disappointment in the Kentucky grand jury's recent decision in the case of Breonna Taylor. With the jury opting to not charge a single officer directly for Taylor's killing, there has been widespread anger around the NBA given all of the efforts to bring awareness to her case.

In a lengthy post on social media, Mitchell offered a heartfelt apology to Breonna Taylor:

Mitchell expressed his disgust in what he considers to be an appalling development in Taylor's case. As he said in his post, he knows that there are more than a few members of the police force out there who have their hearts in the right place. Mitchell's beef is with the officers who continue to instigate the fire that is systemic racism. This, to him, is simply unacceptable.

The Jazz guard ended his post with an emotional apology addressed to Taylor. His message here is one of helplessness and utter disbelief in the country's justice system. In his mind, Mitchell is “angry, sad, disgusted” by the fact that justice was still not served, even with all the noise surrounding Taylor's case.

As Mitchell also said above, this one hits home for him. On his jersey, the 24-year-old opted to have the words “Say Her Name” inscribed on his jersey to commemorate the unjust killing of Taylor. Despite staring defeat in the face, Donovan Mitchell's promise to Breonna Taylor is that he will never forget her name.
