Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell shared a touching tribute to his late grandmother on social media, adding that she made the 23-year old star the person he is today.

Anybody chopping up onions in here?

As he said in his post, Mitchell is still in shock over the death of his grandma. Nonetheless, he still finds consolation in the fact that she's in a better place right now. Likewise, it comforts him that the last game she saw was arguably the best game he ever played in his career so far: his 57-point explosion in Game 1 of their first round series against the Denver Nuggets.

Though it came in a losing effort, nobody could stop Mitchell on that day. He believes that was all the work of his grandmother.

It's certainly been a rough week for Mitchell. The Jazz recently just lost in heartbreaking fashion in the playoffs after the Nuggets came back from a 3-1 series deficit to advance to the second round. What makes it worse is that Utah came close to moving on to the conference semi-finals had Mike Conley's clean three-pointer at the buzzer gone down on the buzzer beater.

Unfortunately, the shot went in and out, signaling the end of Utah's season, as Mitchell laid in agony over the defeat. Nonetheless, as painful as the loss was, this does not compare to the grief he feels with losing a loved one he has spent with his entire life.

Our prayers and thoughts go to Donovan Mitchell and the rest of his family for their loss.
