Before their game on Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell found out, along with the rest of the world, about the violent shooting incident that occurred in Parkland, Florida earlier in the day.

The NBA and its players have been trying to send strong messages to the fans by promoting equality and condemning acts of violence that have happened recently. That said, Mitchell wanted to raise awareness about it further and found a way to do it for the game the Jazz had on hand.

The 21-year-old Louisville product wrote on the shoes he wore on the night the words “End Gun Violence,” in an attempt to prevent more of the same unwanted incidents from happening again in the future.

A total of 17 people were killed in Parkland as the 19-year-old suspect went inside his former school and fired at will. There is still no word on what triggered him to commit the crime, but one thing that's certain is that there's no room for that or any other act of violence to happen anywhere in the world — not now, not ever.

Mitchell appeared to be inspired playing on the night as he had another impressive performance. He finished with a team-high 24 points, to go along with four rebounds and seven assists to extend the Jazz's current winning streak to 11 games, and continue being the hottest team in the league today.

Royce O'Neale chipped in 19 points and five rebounds, while Derrick Favors notched a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
