The Utah Jazz have been undeniably impressive this season, bolstering a league-best record of 35-11 and comfortably sitting at the top of the Western Conference. A deep dive into the team’s stats prove to be even more incredible, as they are achieving a statistical feat that only six teams in league history have ever reached.

The Jazz are a nightmare to face on both sides of the ball, coupling selfless, intelligent offense with suffocating, driven defense. Utah’s identity as a two-way powerhouse allows it to be Top-3 in the league in both offense and defense. The collection of teams to accomplish the same feat includes the 2016-17 and 2014-15 Golden State Warriors, the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls, and the 1985-86 Boston Celtics, all of which went on to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Only two teams have ever finished the season Top-3 in both categories not to win the championship: the 1993-94 Seattle SuperSonics and the 1990-91 Portland Trail Blazers.

The Jazz will be eager to belong to the former category.

Featuring a deep roster full of winning veterans and a healthy sprinkle of star power, Utah has built a special roster. Led by all stars Donovan Mitchell on offense and Rudy Gobert on defense, the Jazz also feature some of the league’s best role players in the form of Bojan Bogdanovic, Mike Conley, and Sixth Man of the Year favorite Jordan Clarkson.

Utah has proven that it is a force to be reckoned with this season. The only question that remains is: how will the Jazz look come postseason time?
