New Utah Jazz shooting guard Kyle Korver passed his physical Thursday and will be available to play in the Jazz's game against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday. Korver was just acquired by Utah in exchange for guard Alec Burks and two second-round picks.

Adding Korver to their rotation provides obvious benefits for the Jazz, with the 37-year-old shooting guard recognized as one of the greatest shooters in league history. Korver is ranked fourth all-time in league history with 2,238 career 3-pointers made. His 3-point stroke isn't streaky, having shot at least 43.0 percent from 3-point range in seven of the last nine seasons.

Korver is knocking down 46.3 percent of his 3-point attempts this season.

The Jazz, who have gotten off to an underwhelming 10-12 start, could certainly use Korver's shooting prowess. Despite having one of the better defenses in the league, with opponents scoring 108.1 points per game (sixth in the NBA) and posting a defensive rating of 108.8 (12th in the NBA), Utah has struggled on offense. Averaging just 105.3 points per game (26th in the NBA) with an offensive rating of 106.0 (27th in the NBA), a primary issue is their inefficiency from 3-point range.

The Jazz have made just 31.9 percent of their 3-point attempts this season (28th in the NBA) despite ranking 10th in the NBA with 31.5 attempts per game. Prior to the trade, only two players in Utah's rotation had made more than 35.0 percent of their 3-point attempts this season, including Burks. Now, though there are still only two players converting above 35.0 percent of their 3s, both of those players shoot above 38.0 percent.
