When Ricky Rubio was traded to the Utah Jazz from the Minnesota Timberwolves during the offseason, the Jazz knew he would help the team, but he has really exceeded expectations. The way he and Donovan Mitchell have played together this year has been a big reason the Jazz are in the position they are in.

For Rubio, he has been the Jazz's second-best player during this postseason and joined some nice company with his performance.

This series has been Rubio's first taste of the playoffs, but the moment hasn't been too big. In each of the first four games, he has had at least ten points, five rebounds, and five assists. The last player to do that according to Justin Kubatko of StatMuse was John Stockton who did it in six straight games in the 1991 playoffs.

Although Rubio still has a long ways to go to get even close to the same level of play as Stockton, they are actually similar point guards in terms of style.

They are both pass first guards who look to get the rest of the team involved first. In 1,504 games in his career, Stockton averaged 10.5 assists and 13.1 points. For Rubio, he has played in 430 career games averaging 10.8 points and 7.9 assists per game.

For the Jazz now, though, they need Rubio to continue the strong play and getting his teammates involved. As good as Mitchell has been this year, the key for a deep playoff run for the Jazz lies in the hand of Rubio.
