Making the playoffs for the first time since 2012, the Utah Jazz did not have the most auspicious start to their postseason.

Seventeen seconds into Game 1 of Utah's first-round series against the Los Angeles Clippers, Jazz center Rudy Gobert sustained an injury and had to be helped off the court. Gobert banged knees with Clippers forward Luc Mbah a Moute and instantly went down in pain. He needed assistance from his Jazz teammates getting to the locker room.

The Jazz announced before the start of the second quarter that Gobert suffered a left knee sprain and that he wouldn't return to the game.

There is currently no timetable for Gobert's return and the severity of his knee sprain has not been reported as of yet.

Manning the middle for Utah, Gobert is a leading candidate for the Defensive Player of the Year award and is a big reason why the Jazz finished the season with the third best defense. If Gobert is unable to play in the series, that would dramatically change Utah's chances of beating the Clippers in the first-round.
