Ex-Charlotte Hornets point guard Jeremy Lin enters tomorrow as a free agent (once again), and reporters around the league point towards yet another exit for the Harvard graduate from his incumbent squad. Now, the desperate yet well-funded Brooklyn Nets have shown specific interest in Lin's abilities, and with the extra influx of cash hanging around the organization, the Nets may end up spending significant money on the mediocre to slightly above average point guard.

Lin has played for five different franchises in the past six NBA seasons, and according to Hornets reporter Rick Bonnell, Lin has less than a 50-50 chance of returning to Charlotte next year, meaning he'll likely play for his 6th team in seven seasons. When asked about his upcoming free agency, the point guard told the World Economic Forum in an interview that not only will he look at every organization contacting him, but he will also try to find for “a new home” after growing tired of moving boxes and switching between different organizations.

This past season, Lin converted 48.1% of his drives to the basket, a similar rate to Bulls‘ superstar guard Jimmy Butler, and most of Lin's offense came from the pick-and-roll, where Lin also showed a great capability to pull up and hit jumpers. To fit into the Nets system, the 6'3″ point guard could pair with forward Brook Lopez, who scored 21.2% of his points crashing off screens during the his last campaign.

The Nets also recently hired head coach Kenny Atkinson for the upcoming season, and Atkinson, an assistant for the Knicks during Lin's tenure, has kept a close friendship and partnership with the guard. Lin would thus return to New York under the stewardship of a trusted friend, something that could impact his decision immensely.

In this bizarre free agency period, the Harvard standout has seen his stock rise, as he is debatably the second-best point guard for teams to pick up this offseason, after theGrizzlies' defensive lockdown point guard, Mike Conley. In addition to the Nets, rumors have linked Lin to numerous different teams around the league, from the Sacramento Kings to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Undoubtably, wherever Lin finds his new team, he will elevate the quality and depth of the point guard position for that organization, as shown over the past couple seasons. “I want to see how great I can be as a player,” Lin additionally told the World Economic Forum, “I'll just exhaust every opportunity to see which one will be the best for me.”
