The New York Jets have made yet another free agent splash. However, this time around, “Gang Green” has reportedly hired former Indianapolis Colts vice president of player personnel Rex Hogan as the team's new assistant general manager.

Of course, the Jets previously managed to pry new general manager Joe Douglas away from the surging Philadelphia Eagles. Douglas notably served as the Eagles vice president of player personnel before just recently making the move over to the Jets.

The Jets have remained incredibly active this offseason while not just rearranging the team's coaching staff and front office, but also the franchise's roster. While initially adding former Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase en route to tabbing him for the same role, the Jets then fired former general manager Mike Maccagnan in favor of the aforementioned Douglas.

On the field, the Jets managed to sign former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell to a multi-year free agent contract, which immediately helped the struggled AFC East franchise upgrade its offensive scheme. With soon-to-be second-year quarterback Sam Darnold ready to perhaps take the next step come the upcoming 2019 campaign, having Bell by his side will certainly aid the young signal caller's development going forward.

Unfortunately for all involved in the current Jets rebuild, New York still plays in the same division as the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots, a team that has won two of the last three and three of the last five titles. As a result, and despite an upgrade Jets roster, the road to the postseason still goes through New England.
