The New York Jets spent another year from their couch as they watched the Kansas City Chiefs make Super Bowl LIV. While the fact that their rivals participating in the playoffs should be enough reason for them to be envious, there's another embarrassing milestone that puts them in a rather bad light.

Thanks to the Chiefs' AFC win, the Jets have become the only team that made the Super Bowl that hasn't returned to the big game after the AFL-NFL merger. It's a bizarre feat that shouldn't even be possible if it wasn't for the poor management the team endured over the past couple of years.

Before the Chiefs won the AFC Championship over the Tennessee Titans, these two teams were the only teams left who haven't managed to make a Super Bowl game in spite of reaching the final before the merger even happened. According to data collected, the Chiefs made Super Bowl I and won Super Bowl IV. Meanwhile, the Jets' only Super Bowl appearance was their Super Bowl III victory. They have struggled to make a return to the summit since then.

Moreover, it doesn't look like things will change any time soon. They are still in the midst of yet another rebuild. While Sam Darnold is doing a stellar job in the pocket, he's yet to show the incredible amount of talent that convinced the Jets to take him third overall in the 2018 Draft. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are now sixty minutes away from a Super Bowl title if they manage to contain Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers.

Jets fans have no clue when their Super Bowl drought will actually end, but they hope that it will be sooner rather than later.
