The New York Jets have quite the quarterback conundrum on their hands this offseason. Things have gotten a bit more complex with quarterback Sam Darnold taking reps with the first-team offense.

The move suggests that Darnold could have a very good chance of starting to open the 2018 NFL season. However, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini, head coach Todd Bowles is not ready to leak any information regarding Darnold's readiness just yet:

Bowles on Darnold's reps with the first team: “Nothing to read into.” He said the rookie QB is “seeing things on both sides of the ball for the first time. As the days go by, he's getting more comfortable.”

Despite Bowles' comments, it is certainly intriguing to hear Darnold has practiced with the starters. Although the Jets moved up to take him with the third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, they made the move with the intention of letting him develop as a backup.

New York solidified this notion when they brought quarterbacks Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater aboard. McCown is currently pegged as the favorite to start under center given his past contributions to the team. However, Bowles has made it known that nothing is set in stone this offseason.

Darnold was slated as the most talented quarterback in the draft. That said, his age and small sample size in college suggest that the Jets are going to take their time into developing him into their franchise quarterback. Fortunately, they have the benefit of doing so with two other viable options under center.
