New York Jets running back Matt Forte used to be the pillar of an offense in Chicago. Now that he is with the Jets, however, things have been slightly different. Not only because Matt Forte is aging, but because of New York's playcalling.

The playcalling is something Forte appears none too pleased with.

“I only had 4 carries this game,” Forte said (via Rich Cimini of ESPN). “I don’t think we ran the ball enough with this weather being the way it was.”

“We knew the weather was going to be like this,” Forte explained. “It continued to rain the entire game. I think we ran the ball only 20 times, something like that. There should’ve been at least one person getting 20 carries, the way the weather was. I thought we were going to grind them out on the ground. It ended up not turning out that way.”

“The running game is where you keep wearing on a defense,” Forte continued. “The more you run it, then later on, you may pop a big one. They [the Falcons] did that. We held them to under 3 yards a carry until they broke a long one [52 yards by Tevin Coleman] at the end.”

It is obviously worth noting that Forte is indeed a running back, so he might come with some bias.

According to Forte, he does believe some of the pass-heavy calling is due to New York's new offensive play-caller, John Morton, who came over from the New Orleans Saints.

“I think he’d [Morton] probably say because he’s more of a pass-type of guy, coming from New Orleans, where they’re in a dome and you have Drew Brees, of course, throwing the ball,” Forte said. “You have to analyze your team and see what your guys do best.”

Anyway, are the Jets good?
