Jamal Adams of the New York Jets is currently engaged in contract extension talks with the team after three successful seasons with the team.

However, according to a story by Rich Cimini of ESPN, those talks have reached an impasse – meaning that the 24-year-old strong safety might be moving on from the Jets via trade.

“The Jets remain intent on signing Adams, 24, to an extension and have no desire to trade him,” a source said in Cimini’s story. “Adams is said to be open to a trade if his contract demands aren't met. More than half the teams in the league have reached out to the Jets to express interest.”

Indeed, almost every team in the NFL should be aiming to obtain the services of an up-and-coming defensive superstar who has already made two Pro Bowls over the course of his first three seasons in the league.

Beyond his on-court accolades, Adams’s contract is extremely reasonable for a stud defender as he is set to make $3.5 million in 2020, which jumps to $9.9 million in 2021 if his fifth-year option is picked up.

Adams has led the Jets in total solo tackles for each of the past two seasons, with an impressive 86 solo tackles in 2018 and 61 in 2019. Adams was second on the team in combined tackles as well in each of those seasons, with 115 in 2018 and 75 in 2019.

According to Cimini’s story:

“Jets General manager Joe Douglas said in February his goal was to make Adams ‘a Jet for life,’ and he hasn't wavered on that position publicly.”
