Jamal Adams has been longing for a contract extension with the New York Jets, but it seems that both sides have come to a standstill.

According to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, a trade involving Adams is ‘very possible' due to contract stalemate.

Since the beginning of last season, Adams has been interested in signing a long-term extension with the Jets. On the other hand, the Jets have chosen to take a patient approach with the All-Pro safety.

Entering the 2020 NFL season, Adams is heading into the second-to-last year of his rookie contract. Therefore, the Jets appear to be putting off his contract until the final year of his deal. With that being said, that could cause even more friction with Adams this offseason.

Ahead of last year's NFL trade deadline, there were rumors that Adams could be dealt to another team via trade. As a matter of fact, there were reports that the Dallas Cowboys discussed a trade with the Jets involving the LSU product.

In his first three seasons in the NFL, Adams has done more than enough to prove that he's arguably the best safety in the NFL. Altogether, the former first-round pick has notched 28 tackles for loss, 25 pass breakups, 12 sacks, six forced fumbles, and two interceptions.

There's no doubt that Adams has earned himself a significant raise from his current contract. But if New York doesn't have mutual feelings, then they could look to trade him. In light of that, upon the recent reports, there is probably a boatload of teams calling the Jets to see what it would take to pry Adams via trade.
