Say what you want about former Cleveland Browns, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Montreal Alouettes quarterback Johnny Manziel: he does garner attention. Even on his best day, he's a dumpster fire fans and the media love to watch.

And by dumpster fire, I mean his uneventful if not predictable career, personal life, and rambunctious qualities.

Manziel, who has become more easily followed on TMZ than on ESPN or any other NFL-centric media outlet, is out of a job again. It may not be for long, though.

While bridges have been burned in the Canadian Football League and in the National Football League, the Alliance of American Football may be his best and last hope to resurrect a career plummeting to nowhere.

Hey, haven't we been here before?

Johnny Football, a one time Heisman Trophy winner and first-round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns, could be slotted for a gig with the AAF's San Antonio franchise. That's the team who holds his allocation rights based on an interesting formula designed by co-founder Bill Polian. The Commanders have multiple players from Texas A&M, which is also where Manziel played college football.

For the AAF, Manziel is an attractive player. Between name recognition, collegiate credentials, and a Heisman Trophy, he’d provide some storylines that at the very least bring some eyeballs to the first-year league looking to gain some traction.

Manziel's career at Texas A&M aside, he's been the football player you hear about that has very little to do with football. He's a party kid best known for benders in Las Vegas than anything he's done on the field. If Canada was his last best hope, San Antonio and the AAF could be a swan-song in a career that's delivered only hype and little substance.

Johnny Football is nearing the point of obscurity. He is potential unfulfilled in a sport where second and third chances are plentiful. He's a toxic personality that has an expiration date nearing a predictable end.

The San Antonio Commanders could be a likely last stop.

The carnival ride that is Johnny Manziel’s life is both fun and painful to watch. If Canada is any indication, the ride may be nearing an end. That is until the XFL kicks off. Their clown car might be an even more perfect vehicle for Manziel. Imagine that scripted spectacle, TV made for a thirsty audience eager for another round of “what if.”
