The Brooklyn Nets have arrived after a season's time involving the many debates in reference to competing for an NBA championship in 2021.

While it's only a small sample size of playing time so far this season, anyone with knowledge of the game would have to admit that the superstar duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving seem to be gelling as if they've played together for years. Irving looks electric offensively, while Durant appears to have not missed a beat after being out last season with his torn Achilles.

As it appears, yes, the injuries that plagued the co-stars may actually end up being the x-factor that catapults them into the 2021 NBA championship contention talks. Proof? Simply look at the second game of the season-opener on Tuesday night between the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers in a repeat of the battle of LA. The Lakers had less than 80 days for a turnaround for the new season, and at times it showed greatly against the Clippers.

On the contrary, Durant has been out for more than a year which has allowed him ample time to rest beyond his rehab. While Irving did see a limited amount of time during the 2019-20 season, he only played up until Feb.1 as he underwent shoulder surgery that ended his season.

While both stars being out of the mix immediately ended all talks of the Nets competing for a championship last season, it allowed the role players the allotted time they needed to showcase their talents and make a case for being apart of the championship roster this season. Such took place with Caris LeVert and Joe Harris, both of whom played with star-like qualities on Tuesday against the Golden State Warriors.

Spencer Dinwiddie was already considered a formidable guard in the backcourt, but his ability to mesh with both Durant and Irving was impressive through preseason and Tuesday. The same could be said for Jarrett Allen, who was willing to take a lesser role behind DeAndre Jordan in order to obtain the bigger goal at hand.

The Nets are a few steps ahead of their rivals so far from a talent aspect. Even more so, being able to rest and develop other players may be their key to winning the 2021 championship. This team could arguably have the best bench unit in the NBA. Brooklyn, this could be your time.
