Following the Golden State Warriors‘ celebration of their NBA championship, Kevin Durant was back in front of the media and was asked about his rivalry with LeBron James, and how it felt to “slay” a giant of his kind after previously losing in the 2012 NBA Finals as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Durant's response was complimentary of James, who became the first player to average a triple-double in the NBA Finals.

“The man averaged a triple-double,” said Durant, according to Sean Deveney of the Sporting News. “I didn't do enough slaying.”

James was a complete beast in the biggest stage of them all, averaging 33.6 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists per game through five games — a sure-fire nod for MVP if the series had gone the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ way once again.

The King played the most minutes of anyone in the series, averaging 42.4 minutes per game — playing 46 minutes in Games 3 and 5.

Their rivalry hasn't sniffed the end of its run yet, as both of these teams are bound for long-term playoff success as long as contract negotiations don't get too much in the way.
