Sacramento Kings head coach Dave Joerger left the game versus San Antonio after the first quarter due to an illness.

Just two minutes into the game, Joerger slapped his hands together to contest a non-call. After heading toward midcourt, the Kings coach reversed his direction, going back to the bench and fell to his knee while bracing himself. He was brought to the locker room soon after. A Spurs team doctor examined Joerger and explained that he was experiencing lightheadedness.

The Kings wanted to make sure that Joerger’s condition wouldn’t worsen and was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the game.

Kings assistant coach Elston Turner provided an update on Joerger's condition after the game, via a report from ESPN’s Michael Wright.

“He's OK. He's alright. Sometimes when you stand up real fast from a sitting position, you get a little bit light-headed. And that's what happened.”

“He's a young coach in good health. A lot of energy, and he exerts it during the game. He exerts it in practice. And it's just an incident that happened. And unfortunately, it was when the lights were on.”

This is Joerger’s second term as head coach of the Kings after his stint with the Memphis Grizzlies. Sacramento is in the last place in the entire NBA with a young team that is still learning to play together.

Kings rookie De'Aaron Fox scored a career-high 26 points but Sacramento lost to the Spurs 113-98. The game was a perfect reality check for the young franchise, which even prompted their social media crew to post a video on Twitter that basically trolls their own.
