The Sacramento Kings had a chance at a win on Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets. With the score at 124 – 123 in favor of Charlotte and a few seconds left on the game clock, Hornets guard Caleb Martin inexplicably fouled De'Aaron Fox while they were in the penalty. The game was all but sealed.

… for the Hornets, that is. In a choke job that the Atlanta Falcons would be proud of, De'Aaron Fox missed not one, but BOTH free-throws. As a result, the Kings lost the game. Afterwards, the star point guard reacted to his unfortunate gaffe in crunch time. (via James Ham)

“I'm very disappointed because I wanted the ball in my hands. Like I said before, they took the foul and you want to punish a team for making a mistake like that. I missed them. There's nothing I can do about it now.”

Fox has had shooting woes from the line before. He has never averaged over 75% from the line in his career with the Kings. Yet, the guard was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe before the Martin foul. Perhaps it was the nerves, or it's a matter of him overcorrecting after the first missed free-throw.

Either way, what's done is done. It's unfortunate that the game ended in that way, as Fox was actually the main reason why the Kings were in this game the first place. He finished with 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting, along with 5 assists and 4 steals. Instead, fans will clown him for choking at the most important of times.

Will a change of scenery cure Fox' choking problem? Perhaps, though it's very likely the Kings aren't keen on letting go of their franchise point guard right now.
