De'Aaron Fox and his Sacramento Kings have been officially eliminated from playoff contention in the Western Conference following the Portland Trail Blazers' victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

Sure enough, Fox was disappointed with the development and expressed why he believes Sacramento has been placed in the said predicament. He admitted that the Kings were not at their best since the restart.

“We feel like we didn't really give ourselves a chance,” Fox said, via Jason Jones of The Athletic. I don’t feel like we played well in these games. We could have been a lot better. At this point you’ve just got to finish the last two games strong.”

It was a bitter end for Sacramento on Sunday, as they too suffered a 129-112 defeat at the hands of the Houston Rockets. This was thanks in large part to Rockets guard Austin Rivers who dropped a career-high 41 points in the absence of Russell Westbrook.

For his part, De'Aaron Fox was not bad at all, finishing with 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting along with two rebounds, nine assists and two steals.

The defeat was Sacramento's fifth loss in just six games inside the bubble, which obviously speaks of how miserable their time has been since the restart. The Kings still have two games remaining, but they will have nothing more to play for at this point. They are slated to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday and close out their season with a matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.
