Sacramento Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox is expected to be ready for the regular season opener despite dealing with a sore lower back.
Fox won't play on Wednesday when the Kings take on Melbourne United in an exhibition game.

Fox has proven he’s going to be a really good player in the NBA for the next decade as long as he stays healthy. The lefty put up 11.6 points and 4.4 assists as a rookie with the Kings in 2017-18. Last season, Fox averaged 17.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists — making that second-year jump Sacramento wanted to see.
Fox improved his shooting numbers last season, too. The Kings’ floor general shot 45.8 percent from the field, 37.1 percent from the 3-point line and 72.7 percent from the charity stripe.
The Kings have already given the keys to the offense to Fox, who is wise beyond his years. The speedster withdrew from Team USA before the FIBA World Cup and started to focus on the upcoming season. He wants to be the guy who leads Sacramento back to the playoffs after more than a decade of postseason drought.
Fox is arguably the fastest player in the NBA. It's going to be fun to watch him play in head coach Luke Walton's up-tempo offensive system this season.
